Shelter Furniture Case Study: WINGS Metro Domestic Violence Shelter

Shelter FurnitureWINGS Metro is a newly constructed, 18,000 square foot building that provides domestic violence shelter and services in Chicago. It is the second such shelter operated by WINGS Program, Inc. The facility offers 40 beds where singles and single heads of household and their children can stay up to four months, and three, two bedroom apartments where families can stay up to a year.

According to Chief Operating Officer Marci Kresin, the addition of this facility makes WINGS Program, Inc. the largest domestic violence service and housing provider in Illinois. Single women or men and women or men with children are able to receive temporary safe shelter through this facility. Staff provides one-on-one, individualized assistance that allows guests to set personal goals that will enable them to work, continue their education, and care for themselves and their children.
